Our company includes a department dedicated to the purchasing of raw materials essential for the production of our compost. We obtain the tens of thousands of tonnes of straw necessary for our operation from our own baling, while poultry and horse manure is delivered to our facilities from contracted partners using our own vehicle fleet. This means that every stage in the production process is closely controlled.
As a member of the Bio-Fungi Group, a leading mushroom-sector company in Central and Eastern Europe, we deal with fresh mushroom growing and trading.
Since the establishment of our company in 1992, we have endeavoured to employ the latest technologies and quality assurance procedures in our facilities, as this is the only way to guarantee the constant quality of our compost and substrate, and to ensure the delivery of impeccable mushroom products to our partners. Our commitment to quality and reliability has transformed the Bio-Fungi Group from a family business into one of the leading mushroom production companies in Central and Eastern Europe. Our computer-controlled, Dutch-style mushroom farms, our closed pasteurization tunnels and the use of spawn from globally established manufacturers for our compost production, as well as our chemical-analytical laboratory guarantee the satisfaction of our partners in more than 10 countries around the world.

COMPOST PRODUCTION AND SALES
COMPOST PRODUCTION
The work of professional mushroom growers is made more difficult by the unpredictable quality of the compost available on the market. Quality is dependent on variable ingredients and weather conditions, hence a poor compost affects yields. This is why we, the Bio-Fungi Group, decided to expand our activities to include compost production not only for our own mushroom growing, but also for our partners since the closed, modern technological system ensures consistent quality. Since 2003, we have been building state-of-the-art pasteurization tunnels at our farm in Áporka, and currently we have 55 such tunnels. In these tunnels, the complex biological and microbiological processes of compost production take place independently of external factors. The raw materials (straw, horse and poultry manure, gypsum, water) are heated and then inoculated with mushroom spawn from global brands. The compost then passes through powerful blending-irrigation lines, reaching its final form in bunkers on the computer-controlled aerated floor.
OWN LAB
Our main product is the button mushroom compost, the development of which is guaranteed by our professional team. Currently, phase III mushroom compost is available to our partners. We make every effort to be flexible in terms of packaging and currently we offer compost in bags, blocks and in bulk. From the raw materials to the final product, the production process is carried out under the strictest quality control supervision. Production is controlled by routine measurements in our chemical-analytical laboratory. The biological basis – i.e. the genetically stable mushroom spawn maintained by modern biotechnology – is also a vital element in our quality assurance system. Since 2005, the work has been completed by the application of a software-based quality monitoring system.
CONTROLLED QUALITY
Bio-Fungi was the first company in Hungary to produce certified organic mushroom compost. Certification is supervised and verified by Hungaria Ökogarancia Ltd., and requires the compliance with a number of strict regulations regarding the organic origins of the raw materials, processing, production processes, packaging, storage and transportation. Thanks to legal regulations banning the cultivation of GMO crops in Hungary, our compost products are also GMO-free.
DOMESTIC RAW MATERIAL
In recent years, the demand for oyster mushroom substrate has been increasing continuously. In response to the growing number of requests, in September 2014 we started to produce oyster mushroom substrate. We use high-quality raw materials and spawn of well-proven, successful strains. Drawing on the company’s many decades of experience, we make every effort to provide our customers with competitive and reliable oyster mushroom substrate.
MUSHROOM GROWING AND SALES
MODERN MUSHROOM FARM
As one of the leading companies in the mushroom industry in Central and Eastern Europe, Bio-Fungi’s computer-controlled mushroom farms ensure that we remain ahead of our competitors in terms of yield and quality. Our automated system maintains ideal conditions for mushroom growth 24 hours a day, which is essential in providing our partners with a permanent supply, including various large chain stores. At present, our 30 button mushroom growing houses and 24 oyster mushroom growing tents supply our partners with 120 tonnes of fresh button and oyster mushroom on a weekly basis. In addition to efficiency, we also pay attention to harvest the mushrooms in various sizes according to the needs of gastronomy, as well as to supplying stores with fresh products grown without the use of chemicals.

We also take into account individual requests, thus, in addition to our existing products, we are open to provide various solutions in terms of both packaging and labelling. At present, our mushroom products are available in plastic trays of different colours containing 250 g, 300 g, 500 g, 1 kg or 3 kg.
